Blackboard
Re-designing the UK's largest student portal interface

Overview
Group design project to develop UX & UI practices by re-designing the university online learning portal
The Problem
Throughout my time at university, I, like every other student, has had to use a platform called Blackboard to access course content, contact tutors, submit work, find my timetable and much more.
Currently, this system is old, slow, unintuitive and difficult to navigate causing frustration for its users and reducing their workflow and ability to interact with university resources
Aim
To create a new 'dashboard' interface that better meets and serves the needs of students by prioritising relevant content in a more accessible and user friendly layout
Output
A series of user-tested and developed interactive Figma prototypes
Solution
A calendar system that allows users to scroll through past class content
Tab system that holds all university services in one place for ease of access
Independent 'Announcements' tab provides a visual overview of important information
Course updates card allows students to see the most recent updates at the tope of their dashboard for ease of access
A 'favourites' system and card that allows users to pin items to a customisable panel for more unique but frequent needs
Problem
Currently difficult and lengthy to find past course content
University services are hard to find and sometimes not even known about
Important information is often lost amongst less important information
Students primarily use BB on a weekly basis to access the most recent course content uploaded by a tutor
Individual and course needs vary greatly from user to user making it hard to design foreveryone
